Arenas & Surfaces

arenas__surfaces

So you have decided to build an arena. The first thing to remember is the the preparation for the arena surface.

pyou need to be thinking about the surface product in terms of performance, longevity, safety comfort for your horses and riders.

Questions to ask yourself
Have you selected the best location for your arena?

Have you approached you local council Planning Department and submitted plans?

Have you selected a reliable local contractor to actually do the job?

Have you designated your own supervisor to check all  stages of the operation are going to plan?

Have you set a realistic budget for the project?

For a new arena project there are many things you will need to know and the list below is not definative but they are questions you should be aking your contractor and things to think about before taking on such a project:

Arena and Surface project

* You must have level surface.
* Will the contracter remove all the soil, rubble etc?
* Will gas or electricity services be ok at the chosen location?
* Will there be good access to the roadway or entrance?
* Will there be good paved access?
* Will there be good drainage?
* Will there be a soak away?
* Can you use reclaimed materials or do they have to be new?
* What type of surface do you need woodfibre, rubber or other?
* What type of finishing do you need, wooden fencing, kickboards etc?

As we stated it is not possible to create a definative list of pre arena build questions because every arana and surface may be different in construction, layout and surface but the advice above may just help you to ask the right questions before your quotation is carried out.
